I used the "NOT a dependent child" option for the Transfer-OV keyword in the dependant's file because my client wants to claim only the child care expenses incurred for that child, without any other federal credit, given that he has shared custody. However, DT Max did not calculate the child care expenses on line 214 of my client's federal return. Is this correct?

No. You should indeed use the "NOT a dependent child" option if you want the program to claim only the child care expenses, without considering the dependant in the calculation of other federal credits. As a workaround, first remove the "NOT a dependent child" option from the Transfer-OV keyword in the dependant's file, which will allow the program to calculate the child care expenses on the line 214 of the federal tax return. Then, you have to manually remove all other credits calculated by the program that your client do not want to claim for the child. To do this, proceed as follows: use the keyword Transfer-OV in the dependant's file and select the federal credit to be removed (for example, the amount for an eligible dependant F305), then select the "Do not claim" option in the keyword Claim-By. Proceed this way for each credit to be removed.
